Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Higher Education Institutions of North-East India: Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract

Higher educational institutions are the crucial ground for changing minds and building an entrepreneurial mindset among the young generation. HEIs are responsible for converting individuals from job seekers to job creators. The ecosystem is the most important factor for sustaining entrepreneurship. This paper tries to highlight the different policy frameworks at both the national and regional levels, challenges, and opportunities faced by the educational institutions in providing an environment for entrepreneurship. Multiple schemes have been introduced by the government, but region-specific implementation is necessary for desired results. Therefore, this narrative review paper focused on how important it is to adapt to regional-centric frameworks so that the challenges (infrastructural, financial, and accessibility) can be overcome and the opportunities can be catered to. North-East India has a huge potential to improve their economy by becoming a job creator region in the agricultural, digital, and tourism sectors.
