Author Guidelines

INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS

1. Submissions

The Journal of Applied and Fundamental Sciences (JAFS) invites submissions that align with its scope and areas of interest. Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts via email to any member of the editorial board. Typically, a decision regarding the manuscript will be communicated within two months of submission, following the peer-review process. Once accepted, articles are usually published within one month.

2. Peer Review Process

All submissions to the Journal of Applied and Fundamental Sciences (JAFS) undergo an initial pre-screening by members of the Editorial Board. Manuscripts may be declined at this stage without external review if they are deemed to lack sufficient novelty, significance, or relevance to the journal’s readership.

Manuscripts that pass the pre-screening will be sent for peer review by at least two experts in the relevant field. If the reviewers provide conflicting recommendations, a third expert may be consulted to assist in reaching a consensus. The final decision regarding acceptance or rejection rests solely with the Editorial board.

3. Manuscript Layout

Manuscripts should be prepared in English, typed on one side of the page, with wide margins and single spacing throughout. All pages must be numbered consecutively. The title page should include the article title, the author's name and affiliation, an abstract, and a set of relevant keywords.

The abstract should be no longer than 300 words and written in a way that is understandable to a broad audience without requiring reference to the main text. While a list of notation is generally discouraged, any new symbols or deviations from standard usage should be clearly defined within the text.

Typically, articles should begin with an introduction that provides adequate background, reviews relevant literature, and outlines the scope of the work. All sections within the manuscript should be clearly numbered. A concluding or discussion section is generally expected to summarize the key findings or implications. Any appendices should be placed after the references.

4. Illustrations

Proper figure preparation is essential for optimum reproduction of line drawing and photograph. Figures and Tables should be placed as part of the text and should be numbered.

5. References

References should be listed at the end of the main text. All in-text citations (references) should be listed in order, that is, [1], [3,4], [6-9], etc. In the References, each citation should be written in the order of appearance in the text. The normal form of listed references is author's initials, surname; article title; journal name (abbreviated in accordance with the World List of Scientific Periodicals, 4th edn); volume number; issue number; page numbers; year.

6. Copyright/Offprints

Manuscript submitted to this journal signifies that it has not been published previously, has not been copyrighted, has not been submitted elsewhere and the author(s) agrees that the copyright (copyright-form) for article will be transferred to the publisher upon acceptance of the article.

It is authors’ responsibility to provide their correct contact information (affiliations and emails), and the JAFS takes no responsibility to verify the information. If authors provide false contact information, then their submissions will be rejected, and their published papers will be retracted as soon as it becomes clear.

When preparing your manuscript, please use the provided JAFS style files for submission (Word with PDF: JAFS Format ) and ensure that any macros used in the document are included with the submission. Authors are also encouraged to submit a plagiarism report along with their manuscript, as the journal maintains a strict policy requiring that plagiarism does not exceed 20%.

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND PUBLICATION MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

The Journal of Applied and Fundamental Sciences (JAFS)follows guidelines from Committee on Publication Ethics for all matters concerning publication ethics. All parties involved in the act of publication (author, journal editor, peer reviewer and publisher) conform to ethical behaviours.

For Authors

Authors affirm that the submitted manuscript is entirely the original work, has not been published previously, has not been copyrighted, or is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere.

  • All authors listed in the paper should have contribution to the work presented in the submission. All authors listed have approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission to the Journal of Applied and Fundamental Sciences.
  • Authors must ensure that the plagiarism limit should not cross 20%.
  • Authors must identify all sources in the creation of the submitted manuscript.
  • Authors must clarify everything that may cause any conflict of interest.
  • Authors must promptly report corrections of any mistake if the author(s) discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in the submitted manuscript.
  • It is authors’ responsibility to provide their correct contact information (affiliations and emails), and the journal office takes no responsibility to verify the information. If authors provide false contact information, then their submissions will be rejected, and their published papers will be retracted as soon as it becomes clear.
  • Authors must include an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Statement in all manuscripts that report research involving human participants.

For Editors

  • Editors are responsible for every manuscript published in the Journal of Applied and Fundamental Sciences (JAFS).
  • Editors should evaluate the manuscript objectively for publication without regard to authors’ nationality, ethnicity, race, religion, gender, or political philosophy.
  • Editors or any editorial staff should guarantee the confidentiality of each manuscript.
  • Editors should ensure the timely processing of any manuscript and seek a fair and appropriate peer-review process.
  • Editors should decline dealing with the manuscript when there is any conflict of interest.
  • Editors should guarantee the integrity of the academic record and ensure that all research materials they publish conform to internationally accepted ethical guidelines.

For Reviewers

  • Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be used for personal advantages or disclosed to a third party.
  • Reviews should be objective and fair without personal criticism of the author.
  • Reviewers should notify editorial office of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and any other published paper based on their personal knowledge.
  • Review comments should be submitted within the scheduled time after accepting the review invitation. They should notify the editorial office timely if there will be delay for completion.
  • Reviewers should not review manuscripts if any potential of conflict of interest between them and any of the authors exists.

For Publisher

  • The publisher should support the publication in a timely manner and take measures to avoid publication malpractice.
