Focus and Scope

Introduction

The Journal of Development Practice (JDP), an open access e-journal is an endeavour of the Department of Social Work, Assam Don Bosco University, Guwahati to create and provide a platform for emerging scholars, practitioners, academicians and policy makers to articulate their views, opinions and experiences in an academic and open ambience.

The journal encourages an approach that emphasises the combination of theory with facts of everyday lived-experiences in the reconstruction of knowledge and reconversion of the same into practices for improvement of human life. An interdisciplinary framework drawn from multidisciplinary fields of philosophy, human rights, sociology, social work, economics, political science, psychology, science and technology and others in addressing human problems is highly recommended. While established theories are respected, the JDP is open to repositioning ‘epistemic claims’, alternative views that arise out of field evidences and indigenous wisdom.

 Goal

  1. To create a platform for academic expression for persons engaged in the field of development.
  2. To provide space for academic articulation by aspiring socially conscious academicians, researchers, policy makers and development practitioners.
  3. To document development innovations and entrepreneurial practices.
  4. To articulate the perspectives of the marginalised and the oppressed.
  5. To contribute towards construction of theories on development.
