Abstract

This case study explores the inspiring journey of Sachin Mishra, a young astrologer and motivational speaker from a Brahmin family in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, India who transformed his offline traditional family business into a digital entrepreneurial business through YouTube Live Chat. Inspired by Acharya Om Prakash Kaushik, a famous astrologer on YouTube, Sachin saw the potential to reach a global audience and earn through Super Chats. The case demonstrates the importance of consistency, knowledge, community engagement, digital monetization strategies and ethical dilemmas. Despite facing initial challenges and understanding YouTube’s associated risks, Sachin’s consistency, knowledge, and strategic engagement enabled him to create a successful digital career while upholding his family tradition.
